WHAT JUVENTUS SAID
Juventus confirmed the events in an official statement released via the club's social media channels late on Sunday night. The club stated: "This evening, at the end of the match against Parma, Weston McKennie was subjected to discriminatory racist remarks by some individuals in the away section, while he was training on the pitch with his teammates who had not taken part in the game.
"Juventus strongly condemns this incident and any form of racism, and will ensure full cooperation with the sporting justice authorities to identify those responsible."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
McKennie began the match on the bench, entering the action as a late substitute for Kenan Yildiz. The midfielder played the final few minutes as Juventus secured a comfortable 2-0 win to start their campaign, with goals from new signing Jonathan David and Dusan Vlahovic sealing the three points for the Bianconeri.

WHAT NEXT?
McKennie's future at Juventus has been unclear for much of the summer. His contract will expire next summer and the Bianconeri hoped to extend it to prevent him leaving for free at the end of the season. With no agreement in place, they could opt to sell him before the transfer window closes next week, but he is reportedly open to seeing out his current deal.
